HP Community League Announces Endorsements

The Highland Park Community League just sent over its list of endorsements for the May 8 Town Council election. While Mayor Bill Seay Jr. is running unopposed for a second term, there are six candidates vying for the five at-large town council seats. Only one councilmember, Bruce “Smokey” Swenson, is not running for re-election. Councilmen Andrew Barr, Will Beecherl, Larry Nixon, and Mayor Pro Tem Gail Madden are all on the ballot.

HPCL endorsed all four incumbents in this election and chose Stephen Rogers (pictured) over Sam Tamborello. Rogers owns Viceroy Investments, a real estate firm, and is the former chairman of HPCL. Tamborello is a private businessman that has advocated for more open government in Highland Park.
