    -The flood/drowning was Spring ’95. She was a UP Elementary teacher – there is a garden at the South end of the school named after her.

    -The 2003 fistfight was exciting but the fighting moms were the only ones in harms way.

    -Truth is the crash on Saturday (sounded like an explosion), multiple firetrucks and helicopters were pretty scary.

    Thanks for the update on the nomenclature. You know you are in the Park Cities when a nail salon shutting down for a few days and a few cars sustaining damage equals DISASTER!

    Cattle Baron’s 2009. OK, that wasn’t actually in the Park Cities, but Deno’s is and that’s where we all took our boots for cleaning.

    I remember something about raw sewage running rampant in the PC not long ago . . . that’s kind of a disaster.

    As mentioned, the 1995 flood killed that teacher. It also flooded many of the buildings on campus at SMU. Some of the subfloors had 15 feet of water in them. I believe two students were swept away in the flooding near the large outdoor swimming pool. They were OK, just had to swim 100 yards. Apparently there is an old creek channel there. I think the whole bottom floor of the Cox building had to be rebuilt. Even today, where those students were washed away, they have flooding signs up.

    We have been blessed here in the Park Cities. No tornados or huge fires.

    @D, It was dads, not moms. But it was still really good. Or bad, however you want to look at it.

    And someone told me they thought it was 2004. Anyway, it was a thriller.

    The UP kindergartener that was killed by a car on Hillcrest. We should always remember that one when get the urge to race around our streets.

    @kmom- You’re 100% right. October 2003, she was in 1st grade. There are still memory tokens hanging in the tree of the home on the northeast corner of Purdue and Hillcrest, next to where she was hit.

    There is a nail salon and a pet salon on that strip of Lover’s, kmom.

    And tinkerbell, no one with the handle of “Onlooker” would even pretend to have any class. “Onlookers” stupidly drive slowly to look at car crashes and cause their own traffic mess.

    Unfortunately, people who put or find themselves in the public eye face more (often unfair) scrutiny than those who don’t. It’s not right or fair but that is how it is nowadays.

    Wow, the only snippet I scanned spoke of the pet salon, did’t know it spanned 5 shops. Darn lucky no one was out on the sidewalk. I’d say that was disaster averted.
    And Kersten is correct, if you strive for publicity, you have to take the good with the bad.

    The many women in the Park Cities that have had disastrous plastic surgery, especially the lip enlargement. Can you say quack, quack.
