    This isn’t the story of a “busted” iphone… but a stolen one. at the high school. this morning. Really, what will the phone thief do with it? I assume he/she will sell it – but to other kids? a pawn shop? Will he/she try to use it? The phone was stolen from the classroom of a 9th grade teacher — seems safe to assume that a 9th grade thief can’t drive. How does that affect the sales options?! I realize this is only a vent – I’m sure we won’t get the phone back – but as a parent, I am just so frustrated and tired of this stuff.

    @hpmom, you ever heard of Ebay? You don’t need to know how to drive to sell something. Also, there’s a paid service thru Apple called MobileMe that uses the GPS to track the iphone. I don’t know if it can be activated without the phone in your possession, but try that out today. If the phone’s turned on, you’ll know where it is.

    My button on the front of my iphone stopped working – I had to turn the phone off and back on to change apps. An appointment with an Apple genius at the store over on Knox, he pops the phone open, replaces the thing under the glass and it works like a champ. I’d call and see if they can just do a quick glass replacement?

    My son is very proud of his non-cracked i-phone, he says most of his friends phones have cracks. Not as cracked as that one of course, but a crack or two. Without a case they are the slipperiest lil suckers!

    Definitely get an Otter box for it after it’s been repaired. The Otter box makes the phone practically indestructible. A little pricey but worth it.

    hpmom, if the the perp who stole your child’s phone is as bright as the one who stole mine you might get it back. Go to att.com and check to see if the phone was used ater it went missing. You have to check for phone calls and text messages on a different page. My thief sent 35 text messages and made a call with the stolen phone. You can do reverse phone look up to find out who the numbers belong to, or, just call the number and see who answers (not from your home phone). If contacts were made with an HP student, and you are serious about getting it back, go directly to the home and knock on the door with your proof to find out who was using the phone. If you are not up to that, print the list and take it to officer Sherrill at the high school. I got my phone back and sticky fingers got arrested.

    I’d have a broken phone without my heavy duty Otter case. It makes the phone quite a bit bigger and bulkier but way, way worth it. Also protects it from water somewhat.

    Brillance Communications can repair that. Just had it done last week on my son’s I Touch. 972-716-9940.
    Be forewarned that if you don’t have it repaired at the Apple store
    then the warranty will not be in effect.
