Will Our Slide Reviewers Get Rained Out?

You remember that Dan was scheduled to go hurtling down the new slide at the soon-to-be Holmes Aquatic Center (nee Curtis Park Pool) today, right? He’s also recruited some kids to test out the brand spanking new, and somewhat controversial high-dive for next week’s issue.

But, if you haven’t gone out and looked at the sky today yet, I’ll fill you in on the weather front: It’s gray, and it looks like a rain out.

No reports yet from the testers. Here’s hoping we get some good video, too.

    We came, we saw, we conquered–both the slide and the high dive. Rain held off until noon so we had an hour at the pool. Thanks to everyone who made it possible–Park Cities People, Dan Koller, City of UP, everyone who worked on the pool. It was a blast!

    The sun was shining bright a minute ago, with the rain coming down. Weirdest weather year, so unpredictable.

    The rain began just as I was leaving the park. Quick review: Awesome! Pick up next week’s paper for more from me and my two 9-year-old guests, Soren Rood and Sam Bentley.

    @Avid Reader: It was removed when the state made high-dives of a certain height illegal. The inimitable Tim Rogers wrote a piece for the print version of Frontburner covering the issue.

    We had a great time today with Dan. I even got to go down the slide. Can’t wait till opening day.
