Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society is Eyeballing HPPC House

This week’s issue of Park Cities People brought another dose of the parking-lot saga with Highland Park Presbyterian Church and its neighbors. The story spells out as many details as I could drum up in about 24 hours, but more news came today:

Seems the Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society is lobbying to save a church-owned home, 3909 University Boulevard, which has a still-undetermined fate. Two other houses in the lot’s path will be preserved and relocated elsewhere, as HPPC spokesman Jon Zellers told me earlier this week.

Says Sandra Cude, PCH&S president: “The community cannot step up if they don’t know about the situation, so we’re hoping to get the word out. Basically, for the cost of moving the house, you get an instant home. All you need is the land on which to place it. We invite everyone to use the House Moving Resource Packet which details how to move a house from University Park.”

Cude suggests interested parties download said packet from the organization’s website, pchps.org. To see project updates from HPPC, which filed on Monday to rezone, visit http://www.hppc.org/forwardbyfaith.
