Career Criminals Nabbed by Highland Park DPS

Two men with rap sheets so lengthy they merit “No-Bond” warrants with the Dallas Sheriff’s Office were apprehended by Highland Park DPS officers Shearer and Avalos on Sunday morning.

The thieves were driving a white Chevrolet Malibu with a busted tail light, the same car involved in a burglary spotted by Dallas Police in the 4000 block of Holland Avenue.

Officers recovered stolen property from auto burglaries, but Highland Park Crime Watch wants to advise residents that, while these two serial burglars are off the streets, folks need to be more proactive about leaving personal property in their cars.

“The thought is that Highland Park residents don’t care about a stolen wallet or iPod because they can afford another one,” the e-mail blast from HP Crime Watch reads. “They need the money and HP has the goods. What they steal can be replaced or in this case, recovered, but they have also stolen a sense of safety and security too. Residents need to be thoughtful when they leave possessions in plain view and remember that their neighbors are looking to steal, other folks less fortunate are out ‘shopping.’ “
