Re: Mystery of the Missing Letter
* SEE UPDATES 1 and 2 BELOW
When I hadn’t heard back from Mayor Dick Davis by Friday at 11:00, I decided to see if Steve Mace with the City of University Park could answer my questions about the mysterious fax/e-mail. He nudged Davis and I was finally able to speak with him late Friday.
Merritt: Mayor, you’ve seen the screenshot of a letter that a commenter linked to on our website claiming that it had been faxed and e-mailed to me. I never received it and I’m wondering if you can forward the e-mail and also send me a copy of the fax confirmation.
Mayor Dick Davis: I’ve been trying to get a hold of the campaign consultant for 2-3 days but haven’t heard back yet, maybe he’s on vacation. He’s the one who would have that.
Merritt: Who is the campaign consultant?
Mayor Dick Davis: John Weekley.
Merritt: I heard that Tina Peyton also worked on the campaign.
Mayor Dick Davis: Tina worked with John but I don’t know how closely. I didn’t do any of the hiring for that.
Merritt: Who prepared the letter?
Mayor Dick Davis: John Weekley.
Merritt: Was he also the one in charge of faxing and e-mailing the letter?
Mayor Dick Davis: Yes.
Merritt: Who would have had access to a screenshot of the letter?
Mayor Dick Davis: I don’t know. John Weekley would have but I don’t know who else.
*UPDATE 1: A few minutes ago, I received an e-mail from someone in Dick Davis’ office. I’ve never spoken to her before but here is what she sent.
