Many readers have asked for a mug shot of Robert Dowe Coleman, the now registered sex offender living on Bryn Mawr in University Park. It looks like I got a cropped pic from a J.Crew catalogue for seniors but what can I say, just because you’re a pedophile doesn’t mean you’re not preppy.

    Ditto what Bluebird said…excellent reporting & followup. Rather than having a J. Crew moment when I gaze upon this mugshot, I seem to hear the dulcet strings of “Dueling Banjos”. You know, the theme from ‘Deliverance”.

    Robert Coleman’s picture & all facts that have been uncovered needs to be delivered to every household in the Park Cities so that our fellow citizens are aware of the threat that lives in this area. Anyone with additional information or questions needs to contact the University Park authorities.

    @WCM, I’m commenting on your post to the Mistletoe thread. I didn’t want to post a comment there and turn that young man’s industry into a Coleman thread. I can’t join you with a chuckle on your comment. I already made the mistake of minimizing the seriousness of Coleman’s crimes. It is easy to make light of his situation. However, his history speaks of someone of singular appetites and a lack of conscious. The people who engage in this kind of behavior can not be taken lightly. There is an ongoing attempt by this crowd to reform the age of consent downwards. There are enablers who are spending time and money to try to abrogate the sex offender registration laws around the country. If you want to be really informed about the extent to which pedophiles will go to satiate their appetites and/or try to get their behavior seen as normal check out the anti-pedophile websites absolutezerouited.blogspot.com or perverted-justice.com. I don’t think you will be as cavalier with your comments after you do.

    @ James Tucker-I agree I found no humor in that comment! Since the latest victims are our very close friends that remark did not set well with our family! We also appreciate the fact that you admit your comments early on were inaccurate. Something more needs to be done!

    Good article in Friday’s paper, Merritt – thanks.
    Maybe this goes without saying, and please don’t flame me for saying this, but I do think now is a good time for a reminder that suggesting any kind of physical or violent response against Mr. Coleman is not a good idea. Even on an “anonymous” blog. This situation is already ugly and tragic enough for the victims – let’s not make it worse.

    Feb update – I wish i had kept tabs on these comments. I think I saw him walking his dog during one of the recent snow days or last weekend. I believe he was walking a b/w spaniel?
    He had a ball cap on w/ long blondish/grayish/white curly frizzy hair coming out the back.
    He asked if I had a dog who was loose, as he had seen one running on Lomo Alto. How did he know I even had a dog? Now he knows my dogs name. I am an idiot. I felt a creepy sensation as soon as he left. Surely after all of his recent activities, getting caught filming, then subsequent registering – he is not already “on the street” looking for a new little boy? I cannot stand alarmists, but I now fear that was him on the hunt.
    Please provide details of his vehicle & dog.
