Rise and Shine, Park Cities (2-21-11)
1. In Friday’s paper, the headline I wrote for the story about Fuel City owner John Benda is “He’s Got a Ranch in Downtown Dallas.” This was a reference to the old Western Warehouse jingle that, as I explained to the transplants on my staff, is burned into the brains of all Dallas natives of a certain age. Anyone care to prove me right by typing the rest of the lyrics into the comments?
2. A few weeks ago, Merritt Patterson wrote about The Betsy Project, a fundraiser inspired by cancer-stricken Park Cities resident Betsy Vincent. We’ve received word that the organization’s donations have surpassed $115,000. Not bad.
3. Highland Park Village has announced that a Pucci pop-up store will move in next to Deno’s next month. I have no idea how significant this is. I defer to any fashionistas who may be reading this.

Chase cuties in my Cadillac
Drill oilwells just for fun
But when it comes to boots I need a deal
That’ll fit me right, toe to heel
So I get my boots at Western Warehouse
Get results like you’ve never seen before.
“Fort Worth National! That’s MY bank.”
