Trampolines Okay, Treehouses Not Okay

By the way, while I have no problem with them,  I’ve noticed more front yards lately with trampolines, some quite large with surrounding netting, sitting right out there.  If it’s illegal to erect a treehouse in your front yard, why is it okay to stick a trampoline out there?  Some people may say they aren’t fixtures, like a treehouse, but I don’t see them being moved much.  Just wondering.

    Personally, I like the look of a treehouse better that the look of a trampoline.

    At times the Park Cities go overboard. I chuckle very time I drive by one of those ‘UP Code Officers sweeping the block’ signs. Big Bro, no thanks.

    There are s-loads of lacrosse nets that are permanent front yard fixtures, as well. I think it looks pretty tacky. I’d much rather see a well built treehouse.

    I like a tree house, myself. Gives a cozy, neighborhood feel to the block.

    It’s kind of like parking an old truck with no wheels in the front yard (trampolines). Tree houses are much better and way more fun!!

    If you are driving through a neighborhood looking for a place to live, what would you rather see? Things like treehouses, lacrosse nets, basketball goals, etc., that show that there are other families with children and that you’d be part of a community, or a sterile, stepford, immaculately manicured lawn house after house after house?

    I for one would MUCH rather see a vibrant neighborhood with children playing.

    Trampolines and lacrosse goals can be moved and put away, a treehouse cannot. If someone has an issue with a trampoline, it can be folded up and stored. If someone has an issue with a treehouse, it has to be demolished. Why is this distinction so difficult for people to understand? Anyway, both are equally ugly.

    That said, treehouses and trampolines are perfectly fine, in BACK yards. Why should I have to look at your recreational equipment? Oh, that’s right–people build over their back yards nowadays, straight back to the alley. And the rest of us are supposed to look at their junk because of it. Why not just park your boat on your lawn? Or your barbecue grill, hammock, and climbing wall? They would all be just as trashy to look at. Get real, folks.

    @UPDad – I vote for immaculately manicured lawns. Your preference is a slippery slope toward cars on cement blocks.

    I think the reason everyone has moved all play equipment to the front yard is because with their giant McMansions they don’t have any back yards left. But I think that treehouses should be allowed as well.

    I agree with UPDad – I love the children playing in the neighborhood. Trampoline, lacrosse nets, tree houses all should be allowed.

    what about all those suvs and cars on display in front yard circular drives?
    just four tires away from wrecks on cinder blocks.
    and all the cars parked in the street for that matter.
