Rise and Shine, Park Cities (02-28-11)
After a two week hiatus I’m glad to be back but my return post was just interrupted by my daughter calling from first period athletics to say she forgot jeans. Can’t use tough love on this one and tell her to suffer the consequences, you know. So before I go on the jean run, consider this.
1. Today is the last day of the short month of February. If your birthday is 2/29, no party for you until next year.
2. Highland Park Dance Company’s founder and former Highland Belle, Casey Castellaw, is smiling pretty big today. She took 4 teams to Kilgore this weekend for the Gussie Nell Davis Dance Classic competition and in addition to a bajillion other trophies, the white team walked away with 1st place overall, silver team scored 6th place overall. Congratulations to Casey and to all 4 teams.
3. Get your number 2 pencils sharpened and pack a lunch, tomorrow is the TAKS writing test for some grades. Do we like this TAKS thing?

TAKS in general is eye rollingly easy for most of our kids, my kid thinks of it as a day off – no homework, woohoo! The writing is the only one that causes any stress in most kids, as they don’t like the iffyness of the grading. It’s the only thing I hear the kids crab about TAKS, the writing and that they can’t count on the easy 100% correct they can get on the other tests.
The lost and found thing is brilliant for a girl, my son wouldn’t care in the least wearing something out of lost & found, unless it was a dress. Or soaked in flowery perfume…….that’s a thought.
