Rise and Shine (03-14-11) Spring Break Edition
HPISD is on spring break this week so I doubt many area residents were rising early anyway.
1. On Friday morning it was looking a bit grim for Parkies headed to Hawaii as tsunami waves were expected to hit shore but I understand all is well on the sunny islands and our neighbors are sipping out of glasses with tiny umbrellas right this very minute. We’re glad you’re safe but we hate you just a little bit too. Were your vacay plans in jeopardy?
2. There are two kinds of stay-cations: the movie, Six Flags, super-fun all over town kind and the paint the kitchen kind. I backed up to admire the large square of test color on my kitchen wall this weekend and one of the kids walked in and said, “It looks like poop.” It does NOT. It’s a lovely relic bronze but now you’ve ruined it for me, go play outside.
Do I stay with the poop or change the shade based on the fact that they’ll say that for years and deep down I’ll wonder if they’re right.
3. My column that hit yards on March 11 was about vomit. Everywhere I go residents are stopping to tell me the most hilarious stories about places in the Park Cities their children have puked. Just know this, everywhere you go in this town, a kid has blown chunks there. Ponder that.

I wonder what lead aprons are selling for out there. And I wonder how much Japan is fudging, or relic bronzing, in Merritt paint-speak.
