SMU Students Think UP Parking District is Bunk

From today’s SMU Daily Campus:

Allie Feldman, who currently does not live on a street included in the district, acknowledges that the streets are often crowded.

“Some residents can get frustrated when there is no parking in front of their homes; however, these residents knew about the street conditions prior to moving in,” Feldman said.

Feldman was considering moving onto Rosedale next year.

“Now, with these new regulations, I am more hesitant to live on the street,” she said.

What say you, Park Cities people?

    Put a huge parking lot where the W Library is going, it will be cheaper and way more interesting. Right??

    We need more parking on our streets, but at what cost? Now we will have MORE signs ON OUR STREETS. This is Going to look Bad.

    the signs are already there – they just state 2 hour parking instead of resident only.

    I would think that the new rules ensuring I could park by my own house would make me MORE likely to move to that street, not LESS.

    The city can’t enforce the parking districts/areas now! Snider Plaza, Mircle Mile, High School area, East & West of Snider Plaza and more. Now add another ” parking District” good luck!

    Going to be interesting on Monday nights for the sororities to find a place to park. And having any friends visit during the day will require a special trip to city hall to get a visitor’s pass.

    It would be great if the city would issue resident parking passes NOW so we can park on the street whenever we want. Then the two hour parking can continue for others, but we would not have to worry about being ticketed for parking on our street. How about it, City Hall?

    MJMJ Yes the city will replace the 2hr parking signs with resident parking only, but when I called the city to see if a sign was going to be installed by my house, they didn’t know at that time. They also said they would be adding more resident only signs on those blocks with 2hr parking now.
    I was told between the replaced of 2hr signs and the NEW Signs that will be going in it would be around 200 signs.
    Also I belive the hours are only going to be 8am to 5pm Monday – Friday that’s not going to help on Monday nights.
