Scots to Face Aledo in ’12, ’13 Tom Landry Classics

Highland Park’s football team will take on Aledo in the 2012 and 2013 Tom Landry Classics. The other match-up will feature Coppell vs. Longview.

Aledo is the defending Class 4A Division II state champions after going 16-0 last season. Luckily for the Scots, they won’t have to contend with Bearcats star running back Johnathan Gray, who rushed for 320 yards and eight touchdowns in the Bearcats’ 69-34 win over La Marque in the title game. Gray will be a senior this coming year.

The Scots are coming off a 12-1 season in which they lost to Mesquite Poteet in the third round.

Highland Park will play Everman in this year’s Tom Landry Classic at 4:30 p .m. Saturday, Aug. 27. The Scots are 8-1 all-time in the Tom Landry Classic.

I’m confused on a couple points in your article. Are we playing them in both of the next two years, or just before the 2012-2013 school year season? Also, why aren’t we facing their all-star player, who will be a senior next year?
