Former Highland Park first baseman Ben McElroy (8) has signed with Texas State University in San Marcos.

McElroy, who hit .441 with seven homers and 39 RBI last season, will be joining a Bobcat team that won the Southland Conference and earned a spot in the NCAA playoffs this past season.

Texas State, which broke the school record for victories last season, will also be moving to the Western Athletic Conference in 2012.

It should be fixed now, Tom. Yes, Gringo Bingo. Texas State will be an independent FCS (I-AA) team this year and then will be in the WAC in 2012.
