Howeth, McElroy Named to All-State Team

Former Highland Park baseball players Jake Howeth and Ben McElroy both earned spots on the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A All-State Baseball Team, which was released on Sunday.

Howeth was named to the first team as an outfielder, whole McElroy grabbed an honorable mention at first base. Howeth led the Scots in hitting with a .473 average with eight home runs and 35 RBI. McElroy hit .441 with seven homers and 39 RBI for Highland Park, which finished 32-6.

McElroy will be playing for Texas State University next season, while Howeth is still trying to decide if he wants to play football at Northwest Missouri State or baseball at New Mexico or Texas State.
