Rise and Shine, Park Cities (7-22-11)

1. Highland Park High School golfer Scottie Scheffler was eliminated from the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship yesterday in Bremerton, Wash. Scheffler fell in the round of 32, but his opponent — Connor Black of Katy, Texas — needed 19 holes to eliminate him. Don’t feel too bad for Scottie — considering he’s entering his sophomore year, he’ll likely get another shot at this.

2. Last we heard, County Commissioner John Wiley Price was still scheduled to speak at today’s Park Cities Rotary Club meeting. The fun starts at 11:50 at Maggiano’s in NorthPark.

3. The fourth superhero movie of this summer, Captain America: The First Avenger, opens today. That got me thinking: If the Park Cities had their own superhero, the way Metropolis has Superman and Gotham has Batman, what would his/her name and powers be?

#3 Super Scot was a super hero who used to appear at HP pep rallies (at least in the late 70’s).

Heard JWP just didn’t show up at the PC Rotary Club meeting. Real classy.
