Does Your Water Taste Funky?

Stinky water is often a seasonal problem, as lakes turn over and the funky stuff from the bottom of the lake makes it to your house before the folks at Park Cities Municipal Utility District can adjust the filtration system.

But several park cities residents have reported weird tasting water in the past few days that wasn’t caused by a change at Lake Grapevine. If you were wondering why the water from your taps was less than refreshing, Larry McDaniel at PC MUD says it’s because the water plant is getting ready for the spiffy new filtration system.

    It really smells bad. Can’t even wash dishes. Why is the odor so lingering?..kids hair smells funky after shower like fish!

    Thanks for posting. For 2 days in a row now I’ve thought my shower water smelled a little like yard soil.

    CAn we plan a everyone run your water alot day so this odor can get past us! I dont really like smelling like ammonia and even the laundry reeks. A little warning next time would be nice –

    I wish he’d write that letter in plain english so we’d really understand it. They normally put in chlorine and ammonia BEfore the filter, and now it is After the filter? And this is ok for our skin, hair, and kidneys?

    Don’t get it. Anyone else having side effects?

    @Upmom — I know the Park Cities aren’t under water restrictions like many surrounding areas, but having a “run your water a lot day” seems REALLY frivolous when your goal is to simply flush through enough water to eradicate a funky smell/taste. IDEA — Park Cities can make its “funky water” available for those of us who are under H20 restrictions — funky or not we’ll be glad to use it in our parched landscapes!!! I’m sorry it smells or tastes funky — we’ve had that problem as well and I understand your concern. We’re going to Stage 3 water restrictions which means every OTHER week, so extra water -funky or not- would be welcome. Bottle it up!

    @PlaNO! – I’m sorry your cage was rattled by my comments – I was not taking a swipe at Parkies but you obviously took offense. BTW — I do not depend on my husband’s job to help me choose where to live. You sound like you really live in Frisco.

These materials are very irritating to the eyes and lungs and are toxic above certain concentrations.

    Believe me, ColinBabs, you don’t want this water.
