Beware of Coyotes on Katy Trail

This report comes from former PCP-er Krista Nightengale, now down the hall at D:

We got to just a little more than a quarter mile north of the American Airlines Center, when I turned around and saw him. He was very close, and he was obviously stalking us.

Forget about Katy Trail; I saw a coyote when I was running early one morning (5:30 or so) at the corner of Wentwood and Tulane. He didn’t seem to notice me; just kept trotting down Tulane toward Northwest Hwy.

Although cougars are very common on the Katy Trail, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen coyotes out there.

They’re not dangerous unless you happen to be running with your small dog and then only the dog is really in danger. I’ve seen them at Tulane and Caruth and over by DCC late at night and early in the morn.
