@MGBHSTAR, no one is making a mountain out of molehill. A simple question asked, and no answer man. And brother, did you have to get the Boys Scouts involved. Gee, now my brow is really raised.

Not about what flags Rep. Sessions or State Sen. Carona gives out, it is about the flag HP produced. Remember the new flag design was introduced in a 2010 HP town council meeting? Maybe the Mayor Pro Tem has an answer.

@NFW, gosh, how many city dept. heads are there? I lost count from your blog. If it is about egos, some may need to get the chip off the shoulder that taxpayers support.

The UP Library is going to be a city department once the move is complete to Preston Center.That means dept head, asst. dept head, asst. to the dept. head, Librarain, Asst. Librarain, etc, etc.

UP & HP will never work together on anything, to many egos!

We seem to making a mountain out of molehill here. Rep. Sessions is well known for bestowing flags on Park Cities residents who are deserving. He sends an American flag and a congratulatory letter to every Boy Scout in the Park Cities who reaches the rank of Eagle Scout? State Senator John Carona does a similar service with a Texas flag that has flown over the Capitol in Austin.

We’re worried about flags? Anybody seen the shrine being built in Preston Center lately? A library this size for the city of UP is ludicrous! In fact, I bet we could have bought every citizen an iPad for the cost of the library and be done with it. Everybody seems to be worried about their tax rates, but it seems ridiculous that two municipalities like HP and UP couldn’t have gotten together and worked out an arrangement on a library. Anyone here know how many visitors the library has each year?

Mr. Pearson, are u going to answer my question, or maybe I should ask Ms. Wick? (not being impolite, but let’s get some numbers and a co. name).

HP Parent…, um, how many flags does HP need? I understand political gestures, but what did the design, production, cost, and who produced it? by the way, nice to talk with you.

It amazes me (and speaking for myself), but when a town like Highland Park goes apes and spends sooooo much of taxpayers $$$ on flags, the many new town vehicles appearing today, town hall renovations ($15M), $100k librarian salaries (by the way, from what I understand, the employment in the library went from 3 folks a few years ago to over 10 today!)[I also believe that a librarian should not make more than some of HP's police officers who actually risk their well being day to day], subsidizing the Dallas Country Club fireworks gala, and the many more $$ sprees….concerns me. How about u folks on town council? I understand upkeep, maintenance, but fiscal frugality has been lost!

If there is so much $$’s in the treasury at HP town hall, then lets give it back to the folks who put it there in the 1st place (ie, the taxpayer). It’s disgraceful to build bigger offices, hire more people, unconscionably raise water rates year over year, not to mention ambulance rates ($500 to $900), permit fees to $50, and then make the town’s children pay to swim in the HP swimming pool. That should be FREE! To make families pay $50 to $80 to swim at the HP pool is a disgrace. Like i’ve said before, some folks need to exit the town government and administration.

No hard feelings, I just care about the folks who live here and pay to make this actually happen! Best wishes-

@ Sam – PLEASE. Cities and towns do this. It’s a pleasant and civil gesture and doesn’t cost much, I have no doubt. Read this post from last April. We even got a flag in return. Bonus! “- Oh, and Rep. Pete Sessions (R- Dist. 32) stopped by! He accepted the town’s flag from Mayor Pro Tem Gail Madden, and presented the town with an American flag that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol. Sessions promised to hang the HP flag in his Washington office. (Side note: when I worked for a paper in Maryland I visited the congressional offices a few times for stories. Sessions would be lucky if he had an office big enough to hang up one photo of his family. Maybe he’ll use the ceiling?)”

Don’t worry Sam; flags are small potatoes when we re-do vacant lots to become “parks” that no one will ever use; and then decide to re-landscape so those zero people can get better usage.

1. how much HP Town council spent of taxpayer $$ to produce this flag idea?; It sure seems HP is rolling in taxpayer $$.

2. what company produced the HP flag?;
