Most sports have the same district. Soccer is different though, I’m not sure why, but they play a couple of the same schools as the other sports do, like Pearce (although I have no idea how their district changes for next year.

DemBones,this new alignment is not for all sports and activities. While I can’t speak specifically for all other sports or activities, I do know that soccer usually has a different district and their new district is announced in March or April.

Lake Highlands is 5A. I haven’t seen the new enrollment numbers for this realignment specific to the schools, but last realignment was 2,281 for Lake Highlands and 1,903 for Highland Park.

@gringobling – why do you perpetuate the misconception that HP “politicks” the district alignment? The UIL uses a number of factors in assigningIn looking at the new alignment, you could consider W. Mesquite and possibly even Poteet minority schools, i.e. their enrollment is more than 50% non-white. The majority of the “minority” schools close to HP are in DISD and the UIL tries to keep schools from the same district together. While I’d love to see HP play Hillcrest, Woodrow and Lincoln every year, it’s not going to happen anytime soon.

Unless the name of the high school is the same name of the city it is in, the UIL puts the city name in front of every high school in Texas to identify them (Dallas Highland Park, Frisco Liberty, Carrollton Creekview, etc.). It’s based on mailing address city.
