Livingston and Lindley, You’re on The Clock
Keller’s been experiencing some budget woes. And one of their city managers found a way to fix it.
Keller city manager Dan O’Leary laid himself off this week, claiming that the city didn’t need him and his $176,000 salary.
“It’s a little unusual for a city of our size to have three city managers,” O’Leary said to the Keller Citizen, referring to his two assistant city managers, Steve Polasek and Chris Fuller. “There was a time that was needed, but at this point in time, I don’t think we need three city managers.”
Now in University Park and Highland Park there are only city manager Bob Livingston and town administrator Bill Lindley, no assistants. I can’t imagine either of them packing it in, either, and neither the city or town are in dire economic straits.
And on a lighter note, what is this dude thinking? That his resignation will be good on his resume? I understand that his job requires him to maximize the city’s resources, but yeeeeesh. Imagine the conversation over dinner the night he decided this?
O’Leary’s wife: “How’s the budget debate coming?”
O’Leary: “I’m quitting my job to save the town $176,000.”
O’Leary’s wife: (silence)
