Teen Killed in Early Morning UP Fire
An 18-year-old man was killed in a fire early this morning in University Park, city officials said Saturday.
University Park, Dallas, and Highland Park fire crews responded to a fire in the 3700 block of Northwest Parkway at about 2 a.m., said UP spokesman Steve Mace, and were met with smoke and flames. Firefighters entered the burning duplex and found the man in a bedroom. They performed CPR and transported him to Parkland, where he was reported dead. He was the only occupant home during the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation; no other properties were seriously affected, including the attached duplex.
The man’s name has not yet been released, Mace said. The victim has been identified as James Harrison, 18. Mace did not know if Harrison lived alone, with roommates, or his family.

Update, 2:05 p.m.: The fire originated on the stovetop, Mace said.

Only a few weeks after the death of a member of the class of 2011. And I saw an obituary today for a member of the class of 2007, and I think his sister was in the class of 2011.
Both deaths affected my family and Brad and James are known to my sons.
So sorry and sad for all but especially their families.
