SMU Student Indicted on Sexual Assault Charges

SMU’s newspaper The Daily Campus is reporting SMU sophomore John David Mahaffey was indicted on Nov. 23 by a Dallas County grand jury for sexual assault of another male student.

Mahaffey was arrested by SMU police on Sept. 25 and charged with the sexual assault. The victim told police he was assaulted twice at two different locations on campus; first at the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, then at the Airline Parking Garage.

After Mahaffey was arrested, the school temporarily banned him from campus, pending further investigation.
