It was quite a day for Highland Park athletics on Saturday.

The girls soccer team wrapped up its second straight berth in the Class 4A state tournament with a 1-0 victory over Wylie in the Class 4A Region II final at Carrollton’s Standridge Stadium. The Lady Scots (24-0-5) will battle Cedar Park (22-3-2) in the state semifinals at 1 p.m. Thursday in Georgetown.

About the time that game was wrapping up, the Highland Park baseball team was in the process of notching a huge 8-1 victory over Forney behind another dominant pitching performance by Matt Wilson. With two games left in the regular season, including a home contest against Carrollton Creekview at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Scots (15-3, 9-2) are tied with Forney for first place in the District 10-4A standings.

Finally, the boys lacrosse team got a tremendous 7-6 road victory over Jesuit to take sole possession of first place in the North District standings with two games left in the regular season. The Scots (12-2, 6-0) will play at Plano West at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Highland Park will also face St. Mark’s at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Highlander Stadium.
