The Highland Park baseball team will try to complete a drastic turnaround to its season, which started with five wins in 16 games, with a District 10-4A championship.

Heading into Friday’s regular-season finale against Terrell, the Scots (17-13, 11-2) are tied for first place with Forney (19-8, 11-2). Highland Park moved up its Senior Night game to 4:30 tomorrow afternoon because of the threat of rain. Meanwhile, the Jackrabbits are slated to host Newman Smith at 7:30 p.m.

The Scots can secure an outright district title with a win and a Forney loss, a co-district title if both teams win or both teams lose, or second place if Forney wins and Highland Park loses. If the teams end up tied, the Scots and Jackrabbits will play again at 1 p.m. Saturday at West Mesquite’s Tillery Field for playoff seeing.

The bi-district round of the playoffs starts next week.
