As I dropped my fourth-grader off at Hyer this morning, I realized with sadness that I only will make a few more trips to Hyer before she moves on. After that, if I hang out at the school, it will, in a technical sense, constitute stalking.

  • I Win, Dez Bryant

Ha! I can go to Northpark Mall and Dez Bryant can’t.  Finally, a tangible reward for keeping my pants up.

  • Rihanna Roofers

The workers putting a roof on a new house behind us started blasting their music this morning around 8:30.  But here’s the weird thing: it’s “lite rock.”  It sounded like Stevie Nicks was in my backyard.

  • Dallas Has Gone Gaga

OMG!  Lady Gaga is in town.  (I’ve been told that’s a big deal, but I don’t understand, really. ) Here we see both her tour bus (or a clever decoy tour bus) and what appears to be one of her insane fans.

  • Sweeps Week

Because Kmom showed me the error of my ways in previous comments, I must now love and appreciate the street sweeper as it makes its way through UP.  And so I do.

  • What I Know About the Harry Potter Theme Park

For those Parkies contemplating a visit to Orlando over Spring Break, here’s what I can tell you from my recent reconnsaince mission to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: butterbeer, contrary to some reports, is not bad at all.  It’s kind of like a cream soda with a beer-like head on it.  The regular beer, a microbrew special to the park, is better.  Pay for the Express Lane passes; it’s worth it.  Consider buying a Gryffindor scarf because its colors are close enough to HPHS to pass.  And before you buy a Hogwarts robe, ask yourself where you would ever wear it.  Then don’t buy it.

  • Trampolines Okay, Treehouses Not Okay

By the way, while I have no problem with them,  I’ve noticed more front yards lately with trampolines, some quite large with surrounding netting, sitting right out there.  If it’s illegal to erect a treehouse in your front yard, why is it okay to stick a trampoline out there?  Some people may say they aren’t fixtures, like a treehouse, but I don’t see them being moved much.  Just wondering.

  • In Other News, Spring is a Good Time to Plant Crops

In what passes for news at the Dallas Morning News, it was reported this morning that nice weather is expected for the Super Bowl – which is more than two weeks away.  What did they do, consult the Farmer’s Almanac?

  • For Those Who Need Their Caffeine Just a Little Bit Faster

Today, I came one step closer to tech nirvana, as I paid for my double short cappuccino at Starbucks with a beam from my iPhone.  No messy cash, not even a credit card, had to change hands.  Now, if I could just pay for everything this way.

I encourage you to download the free app.

  • Uncontained Parking

Silly me. I had forgotten that if you drive a Rolls, you may park it in front of The Container Store any way and any where you desire, no handicap tag required. Oh, and by the way, if you own a Rolls Royce, shouldn’t you have a driver instead of working the wheel yourself? A professional driver would be less  likely to engage in embarrassing parking.
