Four Lady Scots Named All-Tournament

Four Highland Park girls soccer players earned spots on the Class 4A All-State Tournament Team.
Championship game Most Valuable Player Sarah Howley, Kelsey Bass, Megan Gittins, and Katie Martin all earned spots on the squad.
Highland Park capped its 28-1-2 season by beating Northwest Byron Nelson, 1-0, in a shootout, in the finals. The Lady Scots also beat Waco Midway, 5-2, in the semis.

Highland Park Wins State in Shootout
Highland Park’s girls soccer team won its fifth state title and first since 2002 on Saturday with a 1-0 shootout win over Byron Nelson.
Lady Scots goalkeeper Sarah Howley was named Most Valuable Player after turning away seven out of 10 shots in the shootout. Kate Summers, who spent most of the season on junior varsity, scored the game-winning goal.
Highland Park finished 28-1-2.

Lady Scots Advance to 4A Title Game
Highland Park’s girls soccer team got a hat trick from Katie Martin and one goal each from Megan Gittins and Sara Summers en route to a 5-2 victory over Waco Midway in a Class 4A state semifinal in Georgetown.
The Lady Scots (27-1-2) will play Trophy Club Byron Nelson at 4 p.m. Saturday in the state championship game.
Coming into Friday, Midway (21-5-4) had not allowed a goal since Feb. 3.

Lady Scots Set to Face Waco Midway
Highland Park’s girls soccer team will continue its quest for the program’s first state championship since 2002 when the Lady Scots (26-1-2) battle Waco Midway (21-4-4) in the Class 4A state semifinals at 11 a.m. today in Georgetown.
In the other semifinal, Trophy Club Byron Nelson (23-2-4) will take on Cedar Park (21-3-3) at 1 p.m. The winners will square off at 4 p.m. Saturday for the state title.
Highland Park has won four state championships. The Lady Scots are making their first state tournament appearance since 2006.

Lady Scots Headed to State
The Highland Park girls soccer team punched its ticket to next week’s state tournament with a 3-0 win over Carrollton Creekview in the Class 4A Region II final at Standridge Stadium.
The Lady Scots (26-1-2) got two goals from Megan Gittins and one more from Lauren Echols.
The Class 4A state semifinals are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday in Georgetown.

Lady Scots One Win From State

Although they gave up their first goal of the postseason, the Highland Park Lady Scots soccer team rolled past Longview Pine Tree, 3-1, in a Class 4A Region II semifinal on Friday at Carrollton’s Standridge Stadium.
Lauren Echols, Kelsey Bass, and Sara Summers scored goals for Highland Park (25-1-2).
The Lady Scots play district rival Carrollton Creekview (19-3-4) in the regional final at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Lady Scots swept the Lady Mustangs in two meetings this season.

Showdown at High Noon

The Highland Park girls soccer team will look to move one step closer to state when it takes on Longview Pine Tree in a Class 4A Region II semifinal at noon today at Carrollton’s Standridge Stadium.
The Lady Scots (24-1-2) beat Lovejoy, 1-0, on Tuesday night to advance, wile the Lady Pirates (21-3-1) knocked off Waxahachie, 2-0. The winner will take on the Red Oak-Carrollton Creekview winner in the regional final at 11 a.m. Saturday at Standridge.
Highland Park has yet to allow a goal in the postseason.

Scots Look to Remain Hot
Highland Park’s baseball team will try to keep on rolling when it shoots for a fifth straight District 10-4A win against Wylie at 7:30 tonight at Scotland Yard.
After losing to McKinney North, 4-2, on March 23 to drop to 1-4 in district, the Scots (15-9-1, 5-4) have registered wins over Rockwall-Heath, McKinney, Rockwal, and Wylie East to get back into the playoff chase.
Following tonight’s game, Highland Park plays at Pearce on Friday and at McKinney North on Tuesday.

Regional Quarterfinal Games Set For Tuesday
Both Highland Park soccer teams will be back in playoff action on Tuesday in Class 4A regional quarterfinals.
Fresh off a 4-0 win over defending state champion Frisco Wakeland, the Lady Scots (23-1-2) will battle Lovejoy (13-7-4) at 7 p.m. at Wildcat-Ram Stadium at Lake Highlands High School. Highland Park beat Lovejoy, 2-1, on Jan. 13. The Lady Scots have yet to surrender a goal in the postseason. The winner will play the Waxahachie-Longview Pine Tree winner in the regional semifinals at noon Friday at Carrollton’s Standridge Stadium.
After their second straight 1-0 win, the Scots (13-7-6) will face Thomas Jefferson (18-4-3) at 7:30 p.m. at Midlothian. The winner will play the Red Oak-Kilgore winner in the regional semifinals at 5 p.m. Friday at Standridge.

Soccer Teams Back in Action Tonight
After picking up 1-0 area victories on Wednesday night, the Highland Park soccer teams will be back on the job in the Class 4A sectionals tonight.
The Scots (12-7-6) will battle Frisco Liberty (15-6-4) at 7 p.m. at Lovejoy. The Redhawks were 2-1 winners over Carrollton Creekview in area and are from the same district as Frisco Heritage, which Highland Park beat on Wednesday. The winner will play the Thomas Jefferson-Lovejoy winner in the regional quarterfinals next week.
The Lady Scots (22-1-2) have an epic battle on their hands in the form of Frisco Wakeland (20-0-4) at 6 p.m. at Lake Highlands’ Wildcat-Ram Stadium. The Lady Wolverines, who beat Pearce, 1-0, on Wednesday, are ranked No. 1 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s Class 4A state poll, while the Lady Scots are ranked No. 2.
The winner will play either Rockwall-Heath or Lovejoy in the regional quarterfinals.
