Cops Remain Busy During New Year’s Holiday

At 12:38 a.m., police arrested Jeremy Cade Anderson, 36, of Dallas, in the 5400 block of Abbott Avenue on charges of public intoxication and assault of a public servant. Anderson was a contestant on the reality show The Bachelorette in 2008.
Between 10 a.m. on Dec. 29 and 10:19 a.m. on Jan. 2, a burglar broke into a guest house in the 3500 block of Mockingbird Lane and stole two sets of golf clubs.
Between 12:30 and 4 p.m., a burglar stole a Samsung tablet, a Samsung phone, and a Stihl leaf blower from a gold 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 3200 block of Drexel Drive. The SUV belongs to an employee for a roofing contractor and was unlocked at the time.
Between 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 9 p.m. on Jan. 2, a thief stole at least 75 hydrocodone pills from a cabinet inside a house in the 3300 block of Cornell Avenue. Police have identified a home health aide and a housekeeper as suspects.
Between Dec. 24 and Dec. 30, a burglar broke into a home in the 6100 block of Golf Drive and stole almost $125,000 worth of jewelry, including $66,500 worth of necklaces and $35,000 in rings.
Between midnight and 6 p.m., a burglar entered an unlocked silver 2007 Lexus SUV in the 3400 block of Stanford Avenue and stole a $150 Garmin GPS system and a $30 iPhone car charger.
Between 8 p.m. on Jan. 2 and 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, a thief stole $250 worth of lawn decorations from a yard in the 3900 block of Marquette Street.
Between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m., a burglar broke into a white 2004 Cadillac Escalade in the 6400 block of North Central Expressway and stole a $2,400 Macbook Pro laptop computer.
At 2:50 p.m., police responded to a fight among panhandlers at the intersection of Dallas Parkway and West Northwest Highway. An argument led to one homeless man punching another in defense of a friend, followed by a retaliation that involved a third man being thrown to the ground and hit with his own crutches. Three men fled the scene. Police issued a warning to the man on crutches, who was not seriously injured.
At 3:12 p.m., a shoplifter tried to steal three iPhones from the Apple store in the 3100 block of Knox Street by concealing them in her purse while she purchased a separate item. Josefina Ortiz, 45, was arrested on a theft charge.
At 4 p.m., two shoplifters stole about $126 worth of clothing from the Hollister store at NorthPark Center. The stolen items included a $60 pair of camo pants, two long-sleeve T-shirts with a combined value of $36, and a $30 pair of five-pocket jeans. Denzel Ladell Cook, 19, and Danielle Janiece Clay, 17, were each arrested on theft charges.
At 4:40 p.m., an employee of Macy’s at NorthPark Center was caught transferring $200 in cash from a register into his pocket. The thief was taken to the store’s loss-prevention office, where he was apprehended. Lovett Lenard Gibson, 20, was arrested on a theft charge.
At 9 p.m., a thief stole a $150 wallet, containing $400 worth of gift cards and $140 in cash, from a woman’s pocket outside NorthPark Center. The woman did not get a full description of the pickpocket.
At 10:20 p.m., a woman was bumped in a restroom at NorthPark Center, causing the contents of her purse to spill. During the incident, a thief stole her $599 iPhone 5C.
At 5:57 a.m., an employee at Forty Five Ten in the 4500 block of McKinney Avenue told police that a burglar broke two glass patio doors and stole nine Celine handbags, valued at $24,760, from a display shelf.
Between 2 and 9 a.m., a burglar broke into a black 2011 Ford pickup at an apartment complex in the 4000 block of Avondale Avenue and stole a $50 wallet and its contents.
Between 1:30 and 11:30 a.m., a vandal tore apart a Christmas wreath from an apartment in the 3300 block of Blackburn Street and threw it into a nearby tree.
Between 8 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., a burglar broke into a black 2005 Mitsubishi SUV at Buzzbrews Kitchen in the 4300 block of Lemmon Avenue and stole a $100 hydraulic jack and $10 in cash.
At 4:28 p.m., a shoplifter stole two pairs of boots, with a combined value of about $250, from Dillard’s at NorthPark Center. The thief tried to steal the boots and boxes in a baby stroller by taking them into a women’s restroom. Celeste Deleon, 24, was arrested on a theft charge.
Between 10:45 a.m. and 8:50 p.m., a burglar broke into a blue 2003 Ford pickup at NorthPark Center and stole a $150 JVC stereo.
Between 2 and 8 a.m., a thief stole all four tires and rims from a white 2011 Chevrolet SUV in the 4100 block of Buena Vista Street and left it resting on blocks. The items were valued at $2,000.
At 4 p.m., a shoplifter stole a $649 iPhone from the Apple store at NorthPark Center. He placed the phone and accessories into his pocket, but was caught on surveillance video and apprehended. Freddy Levelle Gipson, 17, was arrested on a theft charge.
At 5 p.m., a dispute over a parking space at NorthPark Center led to a man in a gray 2007 Nissan sedan having a gun pointed at him.
At 8:30 p.m., three women tried to purchase several thousand dollars’ worth of merchandise from the Apple store at NorthPark Center using fraudulent credit cards. The women were arrested after a store employee called police, who confiscated 45 counterfeit credit cards. The women said they received the cards from a Nigerian man in Houston who hired them to be “secret shoppers.” Ebonie Markie Sophus, 22; Jasmine Jayne Neal, 25; and Lalania Fay Hollimon, 35, were each arrested on fraud charges.
At 3:49 p.m., two shoplifters stole two iPhone 5S, with a combined value of $1,298, from the Apple store at NorthPark Center. One of the thieves placed the phones in the purse of the other, and both were apprehended as they left the store. Julio Rodriguez-Aragon, 37, and Cosette Rodriguez-Cabrera, 35, were each arrested on theft charges.
