Highland Park Students Test-Drive Da Vinci Robot

I just happened to be at Highland Park High School for cafeteria duty on the same day as the Science Festival, and I couldn’t resist documenting Cameron Kinzey’s test drive of the Da Vinci Robot. (Despite the crude nature of my phone video, I think the sophistication of the robot comes across.) As Georgia told you previously, Dr. Richard Salter and his associates from Forest Park Medical Center brought the massive robot to the high school Thursday for hands-on demonstrations. When discussing its benefits, Salter said, “I can do big, major surgeries through teeny-tiny incisons, so patients can go home that day or the next day.” Guiding Cameron through the machine’s use in the video is Jodi Knowles.
