Huntleigh Frederick Gilbard GraduationHuntleigh Frederick Gilbard, son of Dr. C. Turner Lewis and Bianca Smith Gilbard of University Park and New Orleans, will graduate cum laude from Loyola University on Saturday, May 12. He will receive a Bachelor of Arts in political science during commencement exercises held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La.

His undergraduate honors and accomplishments were many, including making the dean’s list all four years. He was also a member of Phi Kappa Psi where he held various offices during his years at Loyola. Huntleigh was chosen to intern with two prestigious New Orleans law firms during his first two summers in school. During the third summer, he was selected to study international history and law in Brussels, Belgium. He was also vice president of the Inter-Greek Council and program director of the university radio station.

Huntleigh was one of ten students from Loyola tasked with presenting a solution for the economic improvement of the city of New Orleans. His solution for urban blight was chosen and presented to the Mayor’s office and the New Orleans City Council. Huntleigh was also chosen by Senator Mary Landrieu of La. to intern this last year while completing his studies as a Loyola undergraduate.

His plans for the future include entering Loyola Law School in the fall to study law with a special emphasis on international law and politics.
