It’s not revenge, necessarily, but certainly a chance at redemption awaits Highland Park in tonight’s boys basketball game against Richardson Pearce.

After all, the Mustangs kept the Scots out of the playoffs a year ago when they rallied in the final minutes to knock off HP in the regular-season finale.

Tonight’s rematch at Pearce, which concludes the first half of District 10-6A play, finds the Scots (18-5, 5-1) in a much less precarious position when it comes to postseason hopes. HP has won five straight games, including a 77-63 win over North Mesquite on Tuesday in which Stefon Jauregui scored 32 points.

The Scots are tied for the district lead with Richardson, who HP defeated by a 65-60 score on Jan. 15. After tonight’s game, the Scots will start the latter half of the league slate on Jan. 26 when they try to avenge their only 10-6A loss against Mesquite Horn.
