Former Highland Park two-sport star Chris Young’s road back to the majors will take another step forward on Thursday morning when the big right-hander starts for Buffalo, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, against Columbus.

Young, a former Texas Ranger and San Diego Padre, is coming off shoulder surgery last May. He has been on the disabled list for the first 33 days of the season. He also celebrated his 33rd birthday just five days ago.

Young is 49-34 for his career with a 3.74 ERA and 675 strikeouts.
