Rise and Shine, Park Cities (4/20/11)
1. With weather like we had last night, just remind yourself that April showers bring May flowers, mumble, mumble, mumble …
2. Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. today, head over to Elliott Hall at Highland Park Presbyterian Church to check out the Learning Difference Resource Expo hosted by the Park Cities Learning Differences Association. And, as Meredith Roever informed us, you don’t have to have learning differences to find the resources you may need.
3. Just a brief little reminder: Mother’s Day is coming. Do you have a plan?

Rise and Shine, Park Cities! (4/13/11)
1. Last night was the University Park Planning & Zoning commission meeting about the latest plan for the Chase Bank building at Daniel and Hillcrest. I, for one, can’t wait to read Bradford Pearson’s colorful report on the meeting. Because, we haven’t had enough of this site. No siree.
2. Head over to Tootsie’s in the Plaza at Preston Center tonight for Kidney Texas’ Stepping Out in Style kickoff party. The festivities start at 6:30, and 15 percent of all purchases will go to Kidney Texas. Yes, it’s the perfect excuse to bust out the AmEx and get your cocktail on.
3. Don’t tell me you don’t know of a mom that really deserves a fabulous makeover courtesy of Christy M. Boutique and Osgood O’neil. Perhaps it’s time for all the under-appreciated moms to turn the dial up on the guilt-o-meter? Leave a few subtle hints to your friends? Find out more about our Mother’s Day Makeover contest right cheer, and make sure they know to send nominations to editor@peoplenewspapers.com.

Do You Know a Mother Who Needs Pampering?
Like most people, I often struggle with what to get my mother for Mother’s Day. It’s one of those holidays that, if you miss the mark, you feel like a total jerk. However, you don’t want to go broke, either.
But some moms deserve every little luxury for such a very special day. Perhaps they sacrifice what little personal time they have to make their families and communities shine. Or maybe they are experts at doing more with less and less.
For these amazing moms, we’re launching our Mother’s Day Makeover contest that will give them a day of pampering. The prize includes a complete hair makeover and makeup from Osgood O’neil Salon, an outfit and accessories from Christy M. Boutique, and a results-oriented personal training session with fitness expert Gene White.
If you know a mother in the Park Cities that is especially deserving, send an email to editor@peoplenewspapers.com briefly telling us why that special mother deserves the prize. Don’t forget to include a daytime phone number and the mother’s ZIP Code! The deadline for nominations is April 25.
