Get Your Library Cards, Tote Bags Ready

The Highland Park Library wants to help your child’s reading ability soar this summer.

The library will host different species of birds of prey from the Backland Prairie Raptor Center at Parther Park on June 3 at 10 a.m. to kick off its Summer Reading Club “On Your Mark, Get Set… READ!”.

At the park, kids will learn about different raptors and their skills, while parents register them for the Reading Club. Those unable to attend can still register at the library through July 29.

This year, children who read five books will receive a free circus ticket voucher. Those who read at least ten books will receive a certificate and have a book donated in their honor to Reading Partners, a nonprofit that provides one on one tutoring to elementary school students who are reading below grade level.
