Royal Blue Grocery will finally open its doors in Highland Park Village at the end of September/beginning of October. The grocery store stands in the space Tom Thumb filled for decades — even generations.

“In all my years of retail real estate, I’ve never seen a more perfect marriage of a concept and a location. With this specific location, we will be filling a number of roles under one roof — starting with our primary role of a convenient compact grocery featuring gourmet items, everyday staples and in between,” co-owner Zac Porter said.

The grocer first opened in Austin in 2006. The new, 6,000 square-foot Dallas location will be open daily from 7 a.m. to midnight and offer specialty items as well as everyday goods, including produce, deli, beer, wine, and florals.

The two-story market, which will be the largest in Royal Blue’s collection, will include a bakery, butcher shop, catering, and a cafe with a Stumptown coffee bar and patio. The cafe will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and seat more than 70 people.

There will be dedicated parking facing Preston Road. Look for more in our October print issue.
