Police Report: April 6 to April 12

Skulduggery of the week: Suspicious Standoff

At 8:35 a.m. on April 7, a neighbor reported a suspicious man standing next to a white Mazda in the 4100 block of Normandy Avenue. When officers approached, he ran inside a house, and when a resident told police there were weapons inside the house, it led to a standoff. Later, the man tried to escape through the garage, but he was surrounded. Ryan Alexander Crow, 22, of Dallas was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

HIGHLAND PARK

6 MONDAY
Between 4 and 4:30 p.m., a burglar broke into a black 2010 Ford F-250 in the 4300 block of Westside Drive and stole a Kenneth Cole purse containing a Garmin GPS unit and assorted cosmetics.

7 TUESDAY
Between 2:15 and 2:20 p.m., a thief entered an unlocked white 2015 Mercedes sedan at Wells Fargo in the 4100 block of Mockingbird Lane and stole a $4,000 Tag Heuer diamond watch, a $3,200 Gucci python-skin purse, a $400 velvet bag with assorted costume jewelry, and a notebook.

8 WEDNESDAY
At 1:16 a.m., Rachael R. Swalwell, 23, of University Park was arrested in the 5500 block of Hillcrest Avenue on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Between 8:30 p.m. on April 7 and 6:30 a.m. on April 8, a thief stole four tires and rims, valued at $1,000, from a white 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck in the 4600 block of Southern Avenue.

10 FRIDAY
Between 5:45 p.m. on April 9 and 7:30 a.m. on April 10, a burglar broke into a silver 1997 Honda Accord in the 4400 block of Mockingbird Lane, ransacked the interior, and damaged the ignition, rendering the car inoperable. Nothing was stolen, although the miscreant left a white sock in the car.

Between 7 p.m. and midnight, a burglar broke into a white 2015 Chevrolet Silverado at Highland Park Village and stole a $30 Last Kings backpack containing $30 in cash.

UNIVERSITY PARK

6 MONDAY
Between 8:15 and 11:05 a.m., a vandal keyed a white 2010 Porsche Boxster at Highland Park High School.

7 TUESDAY
Between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., a thief stole a $2,000 Cogburn bicycle from a carport in the 3800 block of Greenbrier Drive.

10 FRIDAY
Between 8 p.m. on April 9 and 3:20 a.m. on April 10, a thief entered an unlocked black 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 2700 block of Rosedale Avenue and stole a $150 pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses and a $100 purse containing $40 in cash.

At 12:30 p.m., a man tried to pass a fraudulent prescription for oxycodone at Preston Road Pharmacy in the 6900 block of Preston Road. Benjamin Alan Smith, 26, of Dallas was arrested on a fraud charge.

At 4:21 p.m., a thief stole a $250 Schwinn boys bicycle at Miracle Mile. Theodore Lovett Johnson, 21, of University Park was arrested on a theft charge.

Between 5:30 and 6:10 p.m., a burglar broke into a white 2014 Honda Odyssey at Highland Park High School and stole a $700 iPad, a $50 Timex watch, a $50 purse, a $50 wallet containing $400 in cash, and $20 worth of cosmetics.

11 SATURDAY
At 1:08 a.m., two shoplifters stole $72 worth of razors and $27 worth of hygiene products from CVS at Park Cities Plaza. Jesse Arriaga, 52, and Enrique Vielmas Hernandez, 39, of Dallas were each arrested on charges of theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and evading arrest.

12 SUNDAY
At 12:01 a.m., Fernando Velez, 26, of Dallas was arrested in the4000 block of Wentwood Drive on a public intoxication charge.

Between 6:30 p.m. on April 11 and 8 a.m. on April 12, a thief entered an unlocked gray 2008 Honda Odyssey in the 4200 block of Normandy Avenue and stole a $20 purse containing a $200 wallet and $20 in cash.

Between 10 p.m. on April 11 and 12:50 p.m. on April 12, a thief entered an unlocked blue 2011 Chevrolet Silverado in the 4500 block of San Carlos Drive and stole a $525 Beretta Brigadier handgun.
