Police Report: October 20 to October 26


SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: Easy Pickins

Between 6 a.m. on Oct. 21 and 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 22, a thief stole a $500 Prada wallet from an unlocked gray 2007 Lincoln Navigator in the 4000 block of Miramar Avenue. The driver left the windows rolled down, but the perpetrator didn’t take a $3,500 Chanel purse, a $1,200 diamond bracelet, or the car keys on the center console.


HIGHLAND PARK

20 MONDAY
At 5:44 p.m., Matthew Joshua Smith, 26, of Dallas was arrested in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive on a criminal trespass charge.

21 TUESDAY
At 4:07 p.m., David Andrew Swain, 24, of Plano was arrested in the 3200 block of Mockingbird Lane on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Between 7 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 21, a thief stole the license plates from a black 2014 Mercedes E350 in the 4200 block of Lakeside Drive.

22 WEDNESDAY
At 1:58 a.m., Bryce David Smith, 31, of Dallas was arrested in the3700 block of Armstrong Avenue on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Between 9 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 22, a thief stole an $800 eight-speed Trek mountain bike from a driveway in the 4700 block of Drexel Drive, and also rummaged through an unlocked white 2008 Mercedes 230, but nothing was reported stolen from the car.

Between 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 22, a thief stole a $300 pair of Alpina DBGB sunglasses, a $100 bottle of Ralph Lauren Romance cologne, and $90 worth of Gap girls clothing from an unlocked black 2014 Cadillac Escalade in the3600 block of Crescent Avenue. The homeowner said the larcenist also entered the house through an unlocked side door and tried to steal a 40-inch Panasonic television.

Between 6 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 22, a thief stole a $5,000 ostrich briefcase and a $600 iPad from an unlocked 2008 Lexus LS460 in the 4000 block of Miramar Avenue.

Between 11 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 22, a thief stole a Sony laptop computer with Tenba bag, and $50 in quarters from an unlocked 2014 GMC Sierra in the 3500 block of Euclid Avenue. The homeowner also reported that someone stole a 10-speed Trek bicycle from his detached garage sometime between May 11 and Aug. 10.

Between 10 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 11 a.m. on Oct. 22, a thief stole a $325 Neiman Marcus cocktail dress from an unlocked 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 3900 block of Euclid Avenue.

Between 10:30 and 11 a.m., a thief stole a $250 purse and a $350 Louis Vuitton wallet containing $500 in cash from a 2003 Mercedes SL500 in the 3800 block of Beverly Drive.

At 12:30 p.m., Brandi Allen Nieto, 35, of Dallas and Thomas K. Fahey, 63, of Dallas were each arrested at Highland Park Villageon a shoplifting charge.

Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., a thief stole a park bench from the front porch of a house in the 4500 block of Bordeaux Avenue.

23 THURSDAY
Between 7 p.m. on Oct. 22 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 23, a burglar broke into a white 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 4400 block of Westway Avenue and stole a third-row seat.

24 FRIDAY
Between 1 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 24, a thief stole a $1,800 Prada purse and a $100 Kate Spade wallet containing $200 in cash from an unlocked white 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe inside an attached garage in the 3400 block of Harvard Avenue.

25 SATURDAY
At 6 p.m., two women stole a checkbook and $860 from a resident in the 3500 block of Harvard Avenue. The miscreants knocked on the door claiming to sell magazines, and gave an invalid phone number for which to cancel the subscriptions.

26 SUNDAY
Between 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 26, a thief entered an unlocked red 2010 Ford Ranger in the 3300 block of St. Johns Drive and stole $400 in cash, a $100 security-guard jacket, a $40 nylon bag with jumper cables, $1.52 in coins, and two coin pouches. All of the items except for the cash were later recovered in a recycling bin in an adjacent alley. A neighbor’s surveillance footage captured a man fleeing the scene in a white SUV.


UNIVERSITY PARK

20 MONDAY
Between 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 20, a burglar broke into a black 2002 Jeep Liberty at Park Cities Plaza and stole a $2,000 MacBook Pro laptop computer and $140 worth of accessories.

Between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 6 a.m. on Oct. 20, a thief stole a $180 Schwinn girls bicycle and a $179 Novara boys bicycle from the front yard of a house in the 2800 block of Milton Avenue.

At 5:13 p.m., a resident of the 4200 block of Stanford Avenuereported the theft of $800 in cash, a $600 Burberry jacket, and a $160 pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses on Oct. 18 from an unlocked gold 2010 Cadillac sedan.

23 THURSDAY
Between 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 and 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, a burglar broke into a silver 2013 Chevrolet Suburban in the 4300 block of Larchmont Avenue and stole a third-row seat, valued at $1,000.

At 2:30 p.m., a resident of the 4300 block of Shenandoah Avenue saw a trespasser exiting through an unlocked side door of his house as he returned home. Kirby Dewayne Freeman, 25, of Arlington was arrested on a criminal trespass charge.

24 FRIDAY
At 8:30 p.m., Demetrio Renteria-Maldonado, 58, of Dallas was arrested in the 7000 block of Preston Road on a public intoxication charge.

25 SATURDAY
Between 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 25, a thief stole a $400 Trek boys bicycle from the front porch of a house in the 4200 block of Bryn Mawr Drive.

26 SUNDAY
Between Sept. 14 and Oct. 26, a thief stole $2,100 worth of golf clubs from an attached garage in the 2800 block of Daniel Avenue.

Between 3 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 7 p.m. on Oct. 26, a thief stole $1,000 worth of patio furniture from a home in the 4200 block of Emerson Avenue.
