Went missing around Amherst Avenue and Turtle Creek Boulevard; cats can travel for miles. Please look in your bushes, garages and storage sheds. She’s not wearing her collar.

Neighborhood Party Turns 40
This photo and note came from a resident of the 3500 block of University Boulevard, where neighbors have gathered for 40 years each December to celebrate their community.Ben and Susie Soderquist opened their home Dec. 4 for the block’s traditional annual Christmas party. We had about 60 percent of the families come this year.
Susie remembered that the block traditionally reserved the first Sunday of December for this party. In fact, we already had one family claim that they will host next year! We send out Evites to get the information out and determine who is bringing what to share for the potluck. The north side brought savory treats and the south brought sweets.
All generations are welcome for this sweet event where we can get to know each other better. Some of our neighbors have lived here for 30 to 40 years while others are newbies.
We keep and email the spreadsheet that has data for each family, with email addresses, home and cell phone numbers, and childrens’ names.
Want more information, or tips for throwing your own block party? Drop a line to francierx@gmail.com.

Female Coonhound Puppy Found in 104-Degree Heat in Parking Lot
Seems another good neighbor has come across a lost pup. Says Marilyn Kapral, who includes her phone number below:She is exceptionally well-behaved, hardly barks, and is just plain loving and likes a good snuggle and lots of petting. She has lots of tickle spots, it seems.
Her only quirks are that she will chew cardboard and paper, and she sneaks off with clothes just to smell them with that bloodhound nose; she has never torn up any clothes, but she will go after shoes – found her more than once with her nose stuffed into them! As with some big dogs, she will take you hand or arm unto her mouth, but doesn’t bite; she is just looking for attention and wants to play; just gets a little slobbery.
And lastly, she apparently is used to sleeping in bed with someone and/or being on sofas, because she sure does like to try that. I’ve had to kick her out of my bed several times; seems to be her comfort spot. That, and laying in front of an air conditioner.
She does need steady access to a lot of water.
Marilyn Kapral
214-352-7897The little miss is spayed, about a year old, and weighs 54 pounds — though she’ll probably continue to fill out. Please give Marilyn a call if you know this dog or know of a good home.

Seeking a Home for a Loving, Low-Maintenance Dog
Meet Catch! He was found about a month ago in Highland Park wandering around, and the HP Police picked him up and took him to a vet clinic in Dallas. One of my dear friends (an HP cop) called me and we went to see him. The people at the vet clinic raved about how sweet and well-behaved he was.He was extremely emaciated. We brought him home and have put some weight on him and given him lots of love.
This dog is so wonderful! He is very sweet, gentle and has the kindest disposition I have ever seen. He is a big teddy bear. I think he is a great dane/Lab mix and is about 3 to 5 years old. He is housebroken and does not bother a thing. He’s also very quiet – may bark occasionally but not often at all. He is big! He’s probably 110 pounds. He is great with other dogs, loves people and likes to play! He will be a great addition to a home with other dogs or as an only dog. I am very attached to him and he just couldn’t be any sweeter. We would keep him but we already have two dogs, and if we keep him we can’t foster other dogs that need care.
He is not fixed, allthough he hasn’t tried to bother my female dogs AT ALL. I am happy to pay to get him fixed and get him shots if that’s a deciding factor for someone.
Also – Officer Duane Wade can vouch for Catch, as he has spent quite a bit of time with him.
If you are interested, please let me know.
Thank YOU!
Carrie Hall

Seeking Lost Glasses (5 Pair; Hillcrest near Centenary)
I lost 5 pairs of “home try-on” glasses this morning. I turned north onto Hillcrest from the alley near Centenary. I realized that I had left the box on top of my car when I was turning onto 75. I found a piece of paper that they came with in the mail, in a puddle on Hillcrest, so I can infer that the glasses fell off there and not Northwest Highway.
Warby Parker, the company I had them loaned from, wants to charge me full price for them, and I am only a college student and would be in big trouble if I do not find these. I guess someone has found them already because there are no broken pieces or other remnants in the street.
This would have been sometime after 8:30 a.m. and before 10:00 a.m.
Thank you,
Spencer Mullins

SPCA Pets of the Week: Nash & Cookie
Hi there friends, his name is Nash, and he’s a fun-loving, playful, 5-year-old Greyhound mix. He has been at the SPCA of Texas since April 23 waiting for his new home. Nash is an active boy who loves toys, and of course with his long legs, running is one of his favorite activities. He is very smart and already crate-trained and house-trained. Sometimes when Nash is by himself for long periods of time, he tends to get bored and think up his own games, so he would really benefit from positive crate training and lots of toys to keep him occupied. He gets along great with other dogs, so if you have a playmate at home, be sure to bring him or her down to the shelter to meet Nash! He would be a great walking or jogging buddy, and he is ready and waiting to jog on out of here and into your home. I hope you come visit Nash soon! He’s also a V.I.P. (Very Important Pet) because he’s been waiting for his new, loving family for more than 30 days, and he has a special adoption price of $50!
Hi, this is Cookie, and she’s a very friendly 3-year-old girl. She is a 10-pound, black and white Domestic Short Hair mix with a long black tail and pretty green eyes. Her beautiful fur coat is so soft, you’ll want to pet her for hours. And that is fine by Cookie because she loves attention! She has been at the SPCA since April 28 when her owners moved and they brought her here with her best friend, Caige. They have lived together their whole lives, are extremely bonded, and would really love to be adopted together. Cookie and Caige get along together great and are often seen snuggling together in their kitty bed. If you have room in your heart and home for a pair of gorgeous, lovable kitties, they are just the pair for you! Cookie is very sweet, playful, and loves to jump on your lap. Caige and Cookie would love for you to see them!Nash and Cookie are waiting for you at the The SPCA of Texas’ Dealey Animal Care Center in Dallas at 362 S. Riverfront Blvd. (S. Industrial Blvd.) near downtown Dallas. Call 214-742-SPCA (7722) or visit www.spca.org.

SPCA Pets of the Week: Buddy & Pizza
Well, if you’re looking for a cuddle buddy, I think he’s the boy you’re after. His name is Buddy, and he’s a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix. Because of his own health problems, Buddy’s owner brought him to the SPCA of Texas on May 10, and he is sure hoping that someone comes along soon and gives him the forever home that he wants so much. Buddy has a really pretty black and tan coat, and while he knows that he is kind of a shy, quiet boy, it really doesn’t take much to bring Buddy out of his shell. Just a little coaxing and a lot of love, and he’ll settle in beside you and be the best Buddy you could ever want to have. So please down and meet Buddy today!
Is food the way to your heart? Well we don’t mean to be cheesy, but Pizza will purrr his way right into your heart! He’s a handsome, Domestic Medium Hair mix, and he is just over two years old. He weighs 9 pounds, so he is the perfect size to fit in your lap, or on the couch next to you. His coat is smooth and soft, and he has giant, beautiful, green eyes. Pizza was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas on April 29 due to the health of his owners, and unfortunately they couldn’t keep him. Don’t let his quiet disposition fool you, he is shy at first, but he’s a curious, playful and lap-loving kitty just waiting for the right owner to come find him.Buddy and Pizza are waiting for you at the The SPCA of Texas’ Dealey Animal Care Center in Dallas at 362 S. Riverfront Blvd. (S. Industrial Blvd.) near downtown Dallas. Call 214-742-SPCA (7722) or visit www.spca.org.

Need a Part-Time Nanny?
Know of a family that is interested in sharing our nanny three days a week?
She has been with us for three-and-a-half years, speaks English and Spanish, and has taught my daughter both languages.
My daughter is starting preschool in September, and we will only need our nanny two days a week. We don’t want to lose our wonderful nanny — please share her with us!
She will be available all day every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. She is also available late nights and weekends (we never use her on weekends because we have lots of family nearby!) If interested, please email boutiquestay@yahoo.com with further questions. Thanks!
