Internships

Editorial, marketing, and production internships are available at People Newspapers.

A strong interest and some experience in the area in which you apply are preferred, in addition to excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills. Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment under tight deadlines. Although internships are unpaid, People Newspapers interns gain invaluable real-world work experience. Interns should be available to work a minimum of 12 hours per week between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

Please complete the questionnaire below. You must be at least 21 or older to apply. Please allow at least two weeks for a response. If you do not fill out the questionnaire or if you do not note what area you would like to work in, your resume will not be considered.

People Newspapers Advertising Sales/Marketing Intern
Intern/s will be exposed to all facets of the advertising/marketing efforts of the newspaper: completing special projects for Marketing Consultants including gathering materials to provide to clients, cold calling to update/maintain client databases, phone prospecting, updating sales tools/marketing collateral, creating logs of advertisers in competitor publications, and assisting Marketing Manager in event planning/execution.

A great introduction into the publishing world, and includes opportunities to interact with all departments, not just advertising/marketing. Get ready for a fast-moving, and dynamic semester!

People Newspapers Editorial Intern
People Newspapers is looking for interns who are willing to get a little ink on their hands. Editorial interns will be responsible for a variety of projects, including editing police blotters, proofreading, compiling calendars, and—once you’ve proven yourself—writing stories. We need applicants with a love for the AP Stylebook and a desire to learn what makes a community special.

People Newspapers Production Intern
The production department is looking for an intern interested in newspaper layout/production and website management and branding. Applicants should be detail-oriented, hard working, organized, and team players. Ideal applicants will be interested in the art and design aspect of newspaper production and have web knowledge. While working with the production team, you will be assisting in website development (including social networking), paper layout, and organizational duties, among other things.
