Gabby Crank is one of a handful of Highland Park seniors who excel not only on the track, but in the classroom as well.

Crank recently was given academic all-state recognition by the Texas High School Coaches Association. She has advanced to the Class 6A Region II meet in Waco this weekend in multiple events, and will attend the University of Texas in the fall as a preferred walk-on.

In all, eight members of the HPHS girls track and field team were recognized for their academic achievement. Those receiving second-team or honorable mention include Claire Crofford, Elizabeth Davis, Kara Davis, Maggie Fersing, Connie Jehng, Caroline Magee, and Julia McDonald.
