Congratulations to Jackie Galloway, the SMU student who won a bronze medal in taekwondo at the Summer Olympics in Brazil on Saturday.

Galloway, 20, earned a 2-1 win in the bronze-medal match in the heavyweight class by a 2-1 score over Gwladys Epangue of France. Earlier, she lost to Mexico’s Maria Espinoza in the semifinals.

Galloway, a Wylie native representing the United States, won three of four matches in her Olympic debut. She was an alternate for Mexico in the in 2012 Olympics, but didn’t travel to the event.
