Lady Scots Advance in Playoffs

Despite some incredible goal-keeping by Forney’s Jacy Wright, Highland Park advanced to the third round of the Class 4A state soccer playoffs with a 1-0 win over the Lady Jackrabbits on Tuesday night at Highlander Stadium.

Team captain Kelly Nash scored the only goal of the game, off a Megan Gittins assist, midway through the first half. The Lady Scot defense did not allow a single shot on goal, giving HP back-to-back shutouts in its first two postseason matches.

HP (19-2-2) will have a quick turnaround. The Lady Scots take on District 21-4A foe Rockwall in the sectional round at 7 p.m. Thursday at Highlander Stadium. The winner will face the Little Elm-McKinney winner next week in the regional quarterfinals.

The Lady Scots swept Rockwall by scores of 5-0 and 3-1 in district play.

We should absolutely have a repeat on Thursday, but with an even bigger crowd to cheer on these amazing athletes and a few more goals for the Scots, so that the fans can relax a bit before the end of the game!
