The norm at HP is to cheat on every exam. The teachers just ignore it. From the few stories my kids will tell me, I am amazed at how pervasive the “smartphone” help is there and how the administration allows it. I can’t imagine I am the only parent who is surprised at the amount of cheating.

Another reason to monitor cell phone use in our schools- what are the private schools doing about this? Or do they too have the same “cheating” problem?

Maybe he’s texting his mom. After all, that’s the reason why kids must have their cell phones in school. And is he wearing sweat pants to class?

@ VMS – And why must kids text their moms from school? Before cell phones, were parents just wondering around aimlessly, without any clue where their kids were, when to pick them up, etc?

    Or were you being sarcastic?

@Sammy – sorry, my sarcasm didn’t come through. That’s what we keep hearing about why kids MUST HAVE their phones in school, right? “My kid needs a cell phone at school because our family is fabulously busy and we need to constantly check in with our changing plans blah blah blah.” Cheating on tests is just the bonus, I suppose.

Got it VMS. I just don’t understand the need for kids to have cell phones, or at least the need that they have access to them at school.

But then, when I see parent’s on the cell phones while they are driving, or on their cell phones while they are out eating with their kids, or shopping with their kids, or at the park with their kids… I see what kind of parental example these people are setting.

How many times have you been at the NorthPark food court and seen a couple of kids with their mom or dad who is on the phone THE ENTIRE TIME? These poor kids just sit there sadly, waiting for SOME bit of attention from their parent.

    Tirade over….
