Mark Calendars For Fifth of July Parade

Independence Day falls on a Sunday this year. So we assumed that the Park Cities Fourth of July Parade would happen on July 3.

But the Rotary Club of the Park Cities has issued a news release that says the parade will be held on July 5, which is a Monday.

“I know it sounds like an oxymoron to hold a Fourth of July Parade on the Fifth,” said club spokesman Kirby Warnock. “But with the Fourth falling on a Sunday, we just didn’t have many options if we were going to present the type of parade everyone has come to expect.”

Because the official federal and state holiday is slated to be observed on July 5, organizers do not expect a dropoff in attendance.

“Everyone is going to be off of work that day, so I’m willing to bet we’ll see the curbs lined with people, just like they are every year,” Warnock said.

Couple this news with the fact there will be no fireworks/festivities at the DCC this year and I’m left thinking this is the year to pass on Independence Day. Anybody have a cheap time share available in Colorado?

In Switzerland when it doesn’t snow well in the ski resorts, the Swiss make a special effort to visit the mountains to support the communities there. Plaza Health Foods will be at the 4th of July parade with bells on and FREE FROZEN YOGURT!
