Power Outage Sweeps Highland Park

According to HP resident and novelist Harry Hunsicker’s Twitter feed, he was reading by candelight last night. “Elect. finally back on at 2:15 AM, eight hours after going out. Oncor now deemed slightly more reliable than Baghdad Power & Light. Slightly,” he said.

Luckily, the power was back on at Armstrong and Bradfield elementaries for the first day of school. However, there were still some people without power until last night. Here’s a note from the Highland Park Crime Watch regarding the outages:

A power outage on the West caused some discomfort on the hottest day of the year. According to one of our members, the power finally came back on late Monday night. If your power goes out and you need somewhere to go or have a medical condition that requires electricity, please call 214-521-5000 so we can assist you. You need to contact your service provider to report a power outage. When people call 911 to report their power outages, they could cause a delay for those who are calling 911 with a true emergency.
