HPPC Calls Meeting Tonight About Parking Lot

Highland Park Presbyterian officials have called their own meeting about the church’s controversial parking-lot plan, and as far as I can gather, it’s open to the public.

No word yet from HPPC, but a neighbor tells me they’re meeting at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the Hunt Building (the westernmost end of the church), Room 215.

This follows two recent meetings with University Park’s Planning and Zoning Commission and precedes another on Oct. 12, when HPPC representatives are expected to present new research alongside the proposed plan. In August, said proposal was for a surface lot — one that entails  switching from single-family zoning to that of a planned development. But details may have changed since then.

HPPC’s charge, per P&Z president Bob West: Crunch numbers for a below-ground garage, presumably one that won’t raise neighbors’ hackles about property values.

Stay tuned.
