R.I.P., Tie Davis

I just read in the Morning News that Tie Davis, the brother of University Park Mayor Dick Davis, died Wednesday at the age of 80. A graduate of Highland Park High School and Texas A&M University, Tie Davis was a charter member of Park Cities Baptist Church and an architect in Dallas for more than 40 years.

He leaves behind his wife, Yvonne; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Joan Davis; a daughter and son-in-law, Madeleine and Douglas Smith; four grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Walt Sosnowski; and his aforementioned brother and his wife, Sandra.

Services were scheduled for 2 o’clock today at Park Cities Baptist Church’s Ellis Chapel.

Tie Davis was not the Mayor’s brother. It’s a different Dick Davis.

Tie Davis will be missed by everyone who knew him, which is is to say virtually everyone in town. Thoughts and prayers from the entire community go out to his family.

Bad assumption on my part, especially given how common a name Davis is.

Really? You posted this as fact based on an assumption?

PCP’s credibility as a ‘news’ paper has been called into question recently – seems like a good time to start checking the facts before offering up opinion and assumption as fact – kinda like a real newspaper would. Opinion/assumption is expected from a columnist, but the managing editor too?
