Home Invasion in University Park-UPDATE

SEE UPDATE BELOW.

The armed robbery I mentioned earlier this evening is being referred to by Chief Gary Adams as an “alleged home invasion.” Electronics were taken from a house on Northwest Parkway at Thackery. The victim is a 20 year old white male. Others in the house at the time of the incident were friends of the alleged victim.

UPPD detectives are still on the scene.

More details to come.

UPDATE. Saturday, December 18, 2010 12:00 p.m.

The latest news from UPPD is that the aggravated robbery investigation began around 10:00 p.m. last night in the 3500 block of Northwest Parkway.  Two armed men entered the home, three people were in the house at the time.  The suspects pistol whipped the owner of the home and took various items including the victim’s car keys. The car was not stolen.  An ambulance was dispatched to the scene but the victim was not transported.

Suspects were described as two black males, possibly two more outside. They left the scene in a 1996 red Pontiac.

Not a good day in UP for 20 year old males.

I assume this one is the “victim” of the robbery but not otherwise injured.

I have to wonder why no one is asking any questions about more details on this. Someone posted about a childs party consisting of flashing lights on dark suvs. There were 9 comments on that. Nothing about this. hmmm

I have two friends that live in that block, this is so frightening. It’s so easy to become complacent about security in our friendly, close knit community. This is a reminder that we live in the heart of a big city and keeping our homes secure is important. Thank you Merritt, you are a beacon of valuable information, as well as amusement.

The change from Thackeray to “Thackery” still grates on me.

I wonder how they knew it was a 1996 model

Amen, Neal. We butcher the spelling because Dallas does north of NW Highway, which makes as much sense as cheating from the paper of a dumber kid sitting next to you. All the more painfully ironic as it’s one of three streets in UP named for giants of English literature.

This story says that the 20 year old is the owner of the home. I know it’s UP and all, but that’s very young to be a home owner. And how is it confirmed that the getaway car is a 1996 Pontiac? A 20 year old would be just 6 years old when that model came out…seems like it would be hard to identify a car that old.

@Gringo Bling. I bet they meant the 20-year-old’s parents are the owners of the home, so the 20-year-old was the host.
