Revelers Gathered Outside Bush’s PH Home, AP Reports

If you’re a news junkie like me, then you probably are familiar with the website Newseum.org, which shows front pages from around the globe. Naturally, today would be a good one to check out. As the site is crashing due to a high volume of traffic, I thought I’d do a little digging of my own and bring you, local reader, a smattering of takes on the Bush angle.

UPDATE: 11:12 a.m., Poynter put up a post with 20 front pages documenting OBL’s death. Worth your time.

While George W. Bush’s statement reacting to Bin Laden’s death has been widely circulated, I have yet  to find this AP article in any place but the Houston Chronicle (props to my hometown on that one). The AP article (which could have easily been reprinted by the DMN instead of this lame one), describes the scene outside of Bush’s home on Daria Place, reporting that a sign reading “Thank you President Bush” was placed on the gate. The SMU Daily Mustang posted a video of the revelers late last night.

The Forth Worth Star Telegram is offering a different version of events than the AP story, saying that Bush was not at home when he learned the news but was out to dinner with his wife at Rise in Inwood Village.

Granted, the location of the former president is of little importance in the grand scheme of things. But considering the hunt for Bin Laden started with Bush, it’s only fitting to check in with him when it ended.
